There’s no definite amount of how much you should tip your chauffeur. But as custom goes, people tip 5%-10% of your total bill. For airport transfers, it is customary to pay $2-$5 per bag.

What most people don’t understand is that limousine drivers receive fixed hourly rates as salaries that may not be much higher than minimum wage in most places. In some states, companies expect limo drivers to make money in tips, so they pay even below minimum wage. So, next time you ride a limo, remember to tip the chauffeur well.

What To Do In The Case Of Lost Luggage

Having lost luggage can be a frustrating, stressful, and inconvenient situation. The lingering thought alone can be a painful experience. Airlines usually return luggage to passengers within the time span of 24 to 48 hours. Instead of procrastinating, it is best to take action right away in situations such as this.

  1. REACH OUT TO YOUR AIRLINE

 You should never wait to contact your airline once you realize that your luggage did not arrive. If your airport possesses an office for lost baggage, make sure to report your loss immediately. Leaving the airport in a state of panic is a bad idea if you have yet to speak to an airline agent. If this is not an option- report your loss to a baggage handler, reservations agent, or gate agent. Take note of each individual you speak with and write down instructions given by airline agents. If there is no agent available, contact the airport’s main phone line. If forms are available, complete them during your stay at the airport. Stay alert for any updates on lost luggage and check for lost luggage policies on your airline’s website. 

2. REQUEST LUGGAGE DELIVERY 

   It is important to leave your contact information with an airline agent so that your airline is able to contact you in the case of updates. It is convenient, and common, for airlines to offer to have your luggage delivered to you by hand. If this is not offered to you, it is important that it is requested so you will not have to return to the airport to claim your luggage.

3. FILE A CLAIM

 Most airlines will offer compensation when a claim is filed if your luggage has not arrived within 24 hours from when you have reported it missing. You will be asked to fill out the value of your lost baggage and any incidental expenses caused by the loss. (Toiletries, cell phone chargers, hair gel, etc.) For each ticketed passenger you can be compensated up to $3,500 for lost, delayed, and damaged luggage for domestic flights. Be sure to have an approximate dollar value and a list of all items that were in your luggage before the loss. The value of the suitcase itself is going to take part in the claim. Taking a picture of all of the goods and the suitcase before they are packed is a good idea so that the airline can use this information to determine your compensation for any damaged or lost items. 

5. MAKE SURE TO ANY RECEIPTS OF INCIDENTALS

 In most cases, for reasonable incidental expenses, your airline will reimburse you up to $50 per day for up to five days. Buying things that you would normally buy to replace lost items will make it more likely that your compensation claim is approved quickly. Receipts will be needed to be provided in order for each incidental purchase to be compensated. 

6. CHECK FOR CREDIT CARD BENEFITS

  Lost or delayed baggage benefits may be offered by the credit card used to book your flight and might be activated sooner than your airline’s benefits. An example of this is the American Express cards which, in some cases, can cover your expenses immediately. With Amex, you will need to submit the receipts for what you bought with your Amex card in order to replace everything you need. These charges will be removed from your monthly statement. In order to better understand the notification deadlines, read your credit card’s guide to benefits. Make sure to also have a Proof of Loss Statement from your airline to provide for your credit card company.

7. CONSIDER GETTING HOMEOWNER’S AND TRAVEL INSURANCE 

  You might still be able to receive compensation if you have purchased a travel insurance policy for your trip even if your credit cards don’t offer baggage insurance. Make sure to reach out to your homeowner’s or renter’s insurance to see if they will cover lost or delayed luggage. Coverage from travel or homeowner’s insurance will always be considered as secondary coverage rather than primary.

8. INSPECT YOUR LUGGAGE

  Immediately inspect your baggage for damage when you receive it. It is a good idea to do so in front of the person who has delivered the luggage to you. In most cases, airlines will offer to repair or replace damaged luggage if it is requested within 24 hours of receiving the luggage. In the case of damage, a claim form will need to be submitted for a replacement or repair. Some airlines require the original proof of the purchase receipt for the damaged items. To be safe, take photos of any damaged luggage to support your claim. 

9. ITEMS THAT ARE MISSING OR DAMAGED 

 Be sure to check for missing items as well. If you happen to be missing any items, contact your airport to see if they are in possession of any items that may have been separated from your luggage. If they are not holding the missing item(s), you could receive compensation or an insurance policy for any damaged or missing items.

Where to Meet Your Ride…when being picked up from LGA Airport.

LGA Pickup Terminal A is located on the west side of the airport and is solely occupied by JetBlue.
LaGuardia Airport Terminal A consists of a single level where both Departures and Arrivals are located.

Inside Baggage Meet:  Terminal A is a very small terminal, so the best place to meet your VIP chauffeur is by the terminal exit where you will be greeted with a name sign.

LaGuardia Airport Terminal B is also known as Central Terminal Building (CTB) and is the largest terminal at LGA Airport. There are two levels at Terminal B, Arrivals and Departures.

Curbside: 

  1. Please go to the pick-up area located in the Terminal B Parking Garage, Level 2.

American Airlines Admirals Club – conference rooms

If you’re flying first-class or business-class on American, if you have an Admirals Club membership, or if you’re an elite frequent flyer AAdvantage member with the airline, you have access to the Admirals Club Newark airport location.

Wi-Fi is free, as are PC terminals, and you have three conference rooms to choose from. Keep in mind, you’ll have to pay for any food you enjoy here.

Air Canada Airport Lounge – designed for privacy

Though the Air Canada airport lounge at Newark Airport is relatively small, it’s designed to provide privacy both for those trying to work and passengers who want to relax. Take a look at one of the more niche Newark Airport lounges. 

The buffet is fairly substantial, and the self-serve drink area offers some good choices. One of the real advantages of this Newark Airport (EWR) lounge, which is open to Air Canada premium passengers, Star Alliance Gold members, and Priority Pass members during non-peak hours, is its convenient location to the nearby Air Canada gates.

Art & Lounge – Newark Airport’s answer to convenience and designer style

This private airport lounge is conveniently located at Terminal B, between Satellites B2 and B3. As it’s on the city side of the airport rather than the runway side, it’s an ideal choice if you need to hold a business meeting with someone who isn’t flying.

An artistic vibe permeates the Art & Lounge space, which features designer seating areas, a dedicated TV zone, and conference rooms, as well as private workstations, printers, and fax machines.

British Airways Galleries Club Lounge – first-class dining

If you’re flying in first class with British Airways or Cathay Pacific, fine dining awaits you at this lounge. Elite and premium BA passengers can also take advantage of the snacks, buffet, and self-service bar available in this lounge. 

Showers are available for those in need of freshening up after a long flight, and a business center provides computer access. Keep in mind however that outlets are in short supply elsewhere in the lounge. Oneworld elite members also have access to this lounge.

If you’re flying first-class or have top-tier frequent flyer status with Lufthansa, you can access the Senator Lounge, which features a reserved dining area with meals prepared to order.

The Business Lounge is also available to frequent flyers, business-class flyers, and those with premium economy tickets.

Both lounges take advantage of their space well and have an extensive array of liquors and spirits available, including top German beers on tap.

Delta Sky Club – renovated with more outlets

The recently renovated Delta Sky Club Newark Airport has updated its menu and added plenty of charging outlets throughout its space. Delta Sky Club members can even use their frequent flyer miles to order drinks at the bar.

If you’re an American Express Platinum cardholder, you can also enjoy free access to this lounge when you’re flying with Delta.

Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse – showers and luggage storage

Those flying Upper-Class on Virgin Atlantic, Flying Club Gold members, and their guests flying Virgin are welcomed to the high-end Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse lounge near the Terminal B gates.

Passengers can enjoy cooked-to-order burgers and other free food and drink options, as well as free Wi-Fi and showers to enjoy before the flight. You can also stow your carry-on luggage safely to enjoy your time in the lounge more freely.

United Clubs – take your pick from two locations

While many passengers choose to head to the more spacious United Club at Terminal A, there are also two United Clubs to choose from in Terminal C, at the ends of the C1 and C3 wings of the terminal. These two lounges offer the same basic amenities as the Terminal A club, but they’re smaller and may have fewer food options available.
